The International Finance Corporation (IFC) is a member of the World Bank Group, the largest global development institution focused on the private sector in emerging markets. The Caribbean Region office is responsible for supporting the implementation of the IFC country strategy, business development, and transaction processing in the Dominican Republic (DR). The ideal candidate will work across all IFC sectors, collaborating closely with industry teams on project design, negotiation, structuring, and supervision.
Job Description
We are seeking an exceptional Associate Investment Officer or Associate Operations Officer to join our team in Santo Domingo. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining a good understanding of the economic, political, and business environment in the DR. You will contribute to World Bank Group strategy documents, such as Country Private Sector Diagnostics and Country Partnership Frameworks.
In this role, you will work with investment, advisory, upstream, and relevant World Bank Group teams to roll out the IFC strategy and develop a strong project pipeline. You will build and maintain relationships with the private sector and World Bank Group colleagues to support business development, processing, and portfolio management. You will also participate in key missions/trips to the DR and help prepare high-quality briefs and presentations for World Bank senior management.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you will need a post-graduate degree in finance, business administration, management, economics, or a related field. You should have at least 5 years of relevant experience in development finance, corporate finance, investment, or commercial banking, financial advisory services, or operational experience in an investment or advisory role. Experience or a strong interest in working in the DR is essential, and familiarity with development challenges is a plus.
You should possess strong analytical, credit, and financial modeling skills, with experience in assessing the viability of business opportunities and risks. A good understanding of IFC's investment and advisory business lines and products is required, as well as knowledge of IBRD's operations. Knowledge of industries and opportunities in the country is an advantage. Excellent English and Spanish language skills, both written and oral, are necessary for this role.
