The International Finance Corporation (IFC) is a member of the World Bank Group, and as such, it plays a crucial role in supporting economic development in emerging markets. The IFC's mission is to promote private sector growth and investment in these regions, thereby contributing to poverty reduction and increased prosperity.
Job OverviewWe are currently seeking an Associate Investment Officer or Associate Operations Officer to support our operations in the Dominican Republic. This individual will be responsible for implementing our country strategy, business development, and transaction processing in this key market. The successful candidate will work closely with our industry teams to design, negotiate, structure, and supervise projects, and will report directly to our Senior Country Officer for the DR.
Duties and Responsibilities- Strategy: Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the economic, political, and business environment in the Dominican Republic.
- Business Development and Transaction Processing: Work with investment, advisory, upstream, and relevant World Bank Group teams to roll out our strategy and develop a strong project pipeline. Build and maintain relationships with the private sector and World Bank colleagues to support business development, processing, and portfolio management. Participate in key missions/trips to the DR, and help prepare high-quality briefs and presentations for World Bank senior management.
- Portfolio Management: Develop a good understanding of our portfolio, assist with resolving issues, and contribute to maintaining good relationships with existing clients.
- Education: Post-graduate degree, preferably in finance, business administration, management, economics, or a similar field.
- Experience: At least 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in development finance, corporate finance, investment, or commercial banking, financial advisory services, or operational experience in an investment or advisory role. Experience or a strong interest in working in the Dominican Republic is highly desirable.
- Skills: Strong analytical, credit, and financial modeling skills. Excellent English and Spanish language skills, written and oral.
