Role Description The Senior Backend Engineer role is a full-time, hybrid position based in Distrito Nacional, Dominican Republic, with flexibility for some work-from-home arrangements. The person in this role will design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs that power web and mobile applications, ensuring scalability, performance, and reliability. Daily responsibilities include implementing new features, optimizing existing code, integrating with third-party systems, and collaborating with front-end engineers, architects, and product stakeholders to deliver end-to-end solutions. The Senior Backend Engineer will also contribute to technical design reviews, enforce coding standards, participate in code reviews, and help improve development processes and tooling. This role may involve mentoring other engineers, troubleshooting production issues, and supporting cloud deployments across platforms such as Azure and AWS. Qualifications
• Strong Back-End Web Development skills, including building and maintaining APIs and microservices.
• Advanced Software Development experience with modern frameworks and tools used in production environments.
• Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles and design patterns.
• Programming proficiency in one or more backend languages (e.g., C#, Java, Python, Node.js, Go).
• Basic to intermediate Front-End Development knowledge to collaborate effectively with front-end teams.
• Experience designing scalable architectures and working with cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS.
• Knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases, performance optimization, and secure data handling.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git), automated testing, and monitoring tools.
• Ability to communicate clearly, collaborate in cross-functional teams, and work in a hybrid environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience in consulting or client-facing engineering roles is a plus.
