Senior Mobile Engineer

In this role, you will design, implement, and optimize end-to-end product features. You will help build scalable, data-driven experiences, maintain core repositories, and contribute to a high-quality, production-ready platform. You will be responsible for:
• Own development of new React Native features, including multiple new screens and workflows.
• Help drive the Android version of an existing iOS React Native app, including porting iOS-specific implementations to Android equivalents.
• Integrate mobile features with APIs, and when needed, propose or implement API changes in collaboration with the team.
• Review the current codebase and validate architectural assumptions, identifying risks and improvement opportunities.
• Improve reliability and performance for core app flows, including video streaming/room feeds Requirements
• 5+ years of experience building and delivering mobile applications using React Native, with demonstrated senior-level ownership of features and code quality.
• Proven experience designing, implementing, and evolving mobile architectures, with a strong focus on scalability, performance, reliability, and maintainability.
• Strong experience integrating mobile applications with HTTP/REST APIs, including the ability to translate product requirements into technical API specifications and collaborate effectively with backend teams.
• Hands-on experience implementing push notifications using Google/Firebase tooling (e.g., FCM), particularly for Android.
• Ability to quickly assess and audit existing codebases, validate architectural decisions, identify risks, and propose practical improvement plans.
• Experience managing mobile app releases on the App Store and Google Play, including certificates, code signing, provisioning, and release workflows.
• Experience building video streaming or video feed features in mobile applications, with an understanding of playback performance, background execution, and network variability.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey ideas clearly and concisely in remote or hybrid work environments.
• Highly self-directed, capable of working with moderately defined requirements, navigating ambiguity, and driving tasks to completion independently.
• Sound judgment in balancing independent decision-making with team alignment.
• Comfortable working in fast-paced, startup-like environments with evolving priorities and requirements.
• Familiarity and comfort using AI tools (e.g., Claude) as part of day-to-day development workflows. Benefits Why Join GBH?
